World History Class

Project Goal

The goal for this project was to create a new logo and website banner for a history podcast to drive traffic to the site and gain listeners.

Logo Creation

Mr. Lutz reached out to bring new life to his history podcast with a new logo. The previous logo was quickly put together to just get the job done. We wanted to create something that felt historic, but modern while keeping an edge to it.

I worked through a few globe centered options at first thought, and quickly realized that wasn’t going to give us the look we wanted. After hours (kidding… a couple of minutes, that felt like hours) of scrolling through fonts to find some inspiration, I finally hit one that triggered the lightbulb. From there a lot of customization was done to create each letter to fit perfectly within the other and finding the perfect flow between the three letters.

Once the primary monogram was created, we went with the always wonderful Raleway light to compliment the boldness, and Ohno Blazeface for Mr. Lutz’s name to anchor the whole logo down. The focus with this logo was to create something versatile that is classy and tough at the same time. Something that will look good in your Spotify app, as well as embroidered on a flat brimmed snap back.

With the logo, we also created a new website banner to add a more thoughtful approach to the website. Went fairly simple again, since there would be text overlaid, with a light texture and blown up logo, while featuring the big bold monogram on the right.
